 | Where can I register? | | Register online at our order page where online secure payment is available. | | | | | How do I register a product? | | To see how to register a specific product once you have your registration code, please go to that product section below. | | | | | I lost my registration codes and need them emailed to me again! | | Go to the resend code page and just type in your email and your codes will be sent to you in minutes. | | | | | I have my registration code and the latest version, but it is not working? | | 1) The most common answer to this problem is you're not copying the information correctly into the dialog, copy and paste all of the data to ensure it is exactly as in the email.
2) Make sure you have the latest version, visit the website to check.
3) Search your hard drive for old versions and delete them if found.
4) Make sure you hit the 'Register' button after you have entered your info, some people hit the 'OK' button by mistake, this will not work, you must hit the button labeled 'Register'.
If you still can't get the program to register then send a message using the contact page linked at the bottom of this page. We can either provide more support to you via email or phone, or issue another code to try, we will get it to work, please be patient. | | | | | I need my email address updated, I already purchased your products a long time ago, but don't have my registration codes anymore and my email address has changed, can I still use your new products? | | All future versions are supported with your original purchase, please respond with as much as the following info as possible to verify your purchase so I can change your email in our system.
Original email address: Postal street address you ordered with: Address: City: State: ZIP: Country: OR just include a copy of your original order email from PayPal, Kagi, Handango, PocketGear, or eSellerate if you have it.
If you need your Kagi or PayPal transaction ID you can contact them through their website. | | | | | I ordered already but still haven't received my registration codes. | | Some providers, especially AOL might reject your order email mistakenly as junk email. To receive your registration codes please ensure you have mail controls set up correctly (AOL keyword: mail controls). Even users who have never changed their mail controls sometimes cannot receive email from isotope244.com, when this happens we receive an error email, then we have to manually resend your email from hotmail, this can take a few days so please be patient.
If you ordered and haven't received your payment email with your registration codes and it has been two business days, please submit a message through the contact page and include your phone number. | | | | | When I try to register it says "unable to locate registration url". | | To register offline (if the registration utility can't connect to the registration server) do the following.
1) In the games directory locate the ucareg.exe program and run it. 2) Click the 'Reg Offline' button 3) In this dialog will be an 'ID number', visit the following webpage http://www.isotope244.com/register.html and enter your Registration Code (from your email) and your 'ID number' from the dialog. 4) After hitting submit on the webpage you will get a registration 'Keycode' 5) Enter this 'Keycode' into the 'Reg Offline' dialog on the device you want to register. And click the 'Register' button on the dialog.
If you are registering on the smartphone, to make things easier you can place the Keycode into a file called reg.txt and put it into the games directory on your device, when the ucareg.exe program is run, it will automatically look for this file and use the keycode it contains, so you won't have to manually enter it. | | | | | Can I pay with something other than PayPal? | | YES. We support many forms of payment. PayPal, eSellerate, and RegNow for almost all products. And Handango, PocketGear, and Clickgamer for all Pocket PC and Smartphone products as well.
We recommend you use PayPal as it is the fastest and most reliable, eSellerate would be a second choice, then if you want to pay with a Check, Money Order, by Phone, or mail your order in use Regnow.

Please try the following:
1) Restart windows 2) Uninstall the free versions 3) Install the full versions
(If the screensavers don’t uninstall or install correctly you may need to delete the files manually, open windows explorer and search for files called i244*.scr in your Windows\ and Windows\System32 folders and delete them if found)
What could of also happen is if you installed our 'All 3D Screensavers' package that will install the free version over the full versions, just reinstall the full versions to fix this, you shouldn’t have to enter your registration info again. | | | | | I had to do a hard reset of my pda. Now, I can install the game. I then input the code for the offline registraton. It accepts it. then when I click on the icon, it tells me it can't find the registration and to reinstall. It does this every time. I'm unsure of what to do? | | You will need to get a new keycode. Simply follow the directions in the Offline Register dialog to get a new keycode. | | | | | Do I have to uninstall the demos? Or will the install "upgrade" them? | | You should uninstall all demos before installing the full version. This goes for screensavers, PC games, Pocket PC games, and Mac games. | | | | | I get a message that the installer is corrupted or incomplete. I have tried to download a couple of times with no success. | | This is most likely caused by the file becoming corrupted during download. Then when you try to download it again Internet Explorer gets the file from the internet cache (a copy of the file on your hard drive rather than actually redownloading it). To delete the cache open Internet Explorer and go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files > OK. Next delete any saved copies of the files you may have. Now you can redownload the file. If you still get a corrupt file you can try using a different browser such as FireFox, or a download manager such as GetRight. | | | | | I need the CAB files for the full version. | | After ordering you will get an email with links to the full version which are desktop installers, simply replace the .exe at the end of the full version URL with .cab to get the CAB files. | | | | | How many computers can I legally install the full version on? (I wanted to know if I'm allowed to use it on my Laptop and my Desktop PC or do I need a second license?) | | You are allowed to install the software on up to three computers in the same single family household as long as you are the primary user and owner of each computer. | | | | | Do I have to buy both the PC and Pocket PC versions to use it on both platforms? | | Yes, all of our software is licensed seperately for each platform, Windows, Pocket PC, Mac, and Smartphone. This is common to all software, for example when you buy Tetris for the Playstation, you don't also get it for the Gameboy, PC, and XBOX. Each version is a little different and contains optimizations and controls specific to that platform.
When ordering at isotope244.com there is a huge advantage though. We offer great discounts when purchasing multiple software and platform versions, just select the ones you want on the order page and look at the bottom of the page for the discount. For example, if you want the Windows and Pocket PC versions of Atomic Cannon you get a 50% discount. | | | | | I get the message 'The license for this software wasn't found. Please reinstall. | | The license data is stored in your computers registry and has become invalid. This can happen when re-registering the game or doing a restore from a backup. It is easy to fix. In the games installation directory there is a program called ucareg.exe run it and where it asks for the code, enter the word delete and hit Continue, then click Yes, this will delete the invalid registry data and allow you to re-register the game so it will work again. Now enter your registration code hit Continue to register the game.
If the delete command doesn't work you can also try the following:
1) Explore to the games directory and run the ucareg.exe program, now select Unregister, and hit yes to unregister everything.
2) If you can't get unregistration to work, then open the Registry Editor and delete the following registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Isotope244 Graphics\Licenses
For a tutorial on editing the registry see this page http://www.winguides.com/registry/article.php?id=1&page=3
If you are on the Pocket PC or Smartphone, you will have to download and install a registry editor.
Now run the game and register it normally. | | | | | When installing the error message "(game name)-PPC' is not a valid Pocket PC application." | | This is because the link in the email is a desktop PC installer (that runs on Windows XP for example) that installs the game over an ActiveSync connection.
If you would like to use a direct install on your PDA without a desktop pc, modify the extension in the link in the email to .cab. For example, if the download URL ends in Atomic-Cannon-PPC.exe type it into your browser as Atomic-Cannon-PPC.cab | | | | | When installing on Windows XP I get the Error opening file for writing: \Atomic Cannon PPC\ceinst.exe
Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file. Retrying doesn't work, and Ignoring it only brings up the next file with the same error. | | This happens if you don't have ActiveSync installed. If you wanted the Windows versions of our games (for example to run on Windows XP) you may have mistakenly ordered the Pocket PC version, which is different and won't run on Windows. Simply email support and we can change your license to the Windows version. | | | | | I open the game and get the error "my registration is corrupted" or the game crashes and generates a .dmp file, what do I do? (for Windows XP or Vista) | | Note you don't have to uninstall or re-install the game in either scenario.
Scenario 1: 1) Run the registration utility (it is in the games directory and called ucareg.exe) To open the games folder click on Start > Run then type in C:\program files\Isotope244 Graphics\acky's XP breakout and hit OK 2) Select the Un-register option (If the un-register option does not work for you do the other section below) 3) Register the game using the registration utility
OR
Scenario 2: (only do this if step 2 failed above) 1) open the registry editor by clicking on Start > Run, now type in regedit and click OK. 2) Delete the following registry keys My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Isotope244 Graphics My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Isotope244 Graphics
NOTE: The Isotope244 Graphics folder will have subfolders, delete any of these. The HKEY_CURRENT_USER may not exist.
3) Run the game and it will ask you to register. Select YES when asked if you want to register for all users. |
Mobile and Pocket PC and Smartphone Games
 | Game gives you an error such as "Your Registration Code has become corrupted, please re-register... could not create GDI buffer... Error Code= 0x80004005" | | In the registry there is a value which is stored that is specific to your Pocket PC, so if you try to move the registration key for the game in the registry to another device it will cause the error you are describing (if you restored the game to the exact same device and OS it would have worked). But since it is a new device and OS please do the following:
Note you don't have to uninstall or re-install the game in either scenario.
Scenario 1: 1) Run the registration utility on the Pocket PC (it is in the games directory and called ucareg.exe) 2) Select the Un-register option (If the un-register option does not work for you do the other section below) 3) Register the game using the registration utility
OR
Scenario 2: (only do this if step 2 failed above) 1) Install a registry editor for your Pocket PC (Here is a good demo one: http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/ Here is a good free one: http://www.codeproject.com/ce/redit.asp) 2) Delete the following registry keys Local Device\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Isotope244 Graphics Local Device\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Isotope244 Graphics The Isotope244 Graphics folder will have subfolders, delete any of these. NOTE: The HKEY_CURRENT_USER may not exist. NOTE: Use caution when editing the registry. Backup any important data before doing so. Also it is a good idea to make an image of your device just in case. 3) Run the ucareg.exe program in the games directory to register the game. | | | | | It will work fine for awhile and then I will get this error: "This application only supports 16 bit 565 color devices." and then the screen displays all scrambled. | | Here is the solution from the user aftering troubleshooting a few things (this happened on a Loox 720 but may be applicable to other devices), my guess is a system OS or ROM update, or corrupted system files may have caused the issue.
I renamed the file in \Windows to "_gx.dll". Then I did a soft reset. After that, the apps worked fine. Then I did another soft reset (to clear the dll from memory) and renamed the \Windows file back to "gx.dll". The apps STILL worked. I *think* that the act of renaming the ROM resident file and then renaming it back forced a clean copy from the ROM image into the system area of the filesystem (total supposition). | | | | | After playing, all of my setting on SPB Pocket Plus has been wiped out. I also use OzVGA for true VGA resolution on my PocketPC. | | Our PPC VGA games require no VGA utilities to run in VGA mode. This was the response from the user after telling them to disable OzVGA:
When I was using the trial verion, I turned off my pda during the middle of a game. When I powered my pda on again, that's when half of my Pocket Plus icons disappeared. Additionally, a folder called "Built in Storage 2" was created (I usually load all applications in BIS).
The latest incident occurred after I completed a game and exited the program. Since then I have not been running true VGA while playing and it has not been an issue. | | | | | Battle Dragons on the gives you the following error: failed to load level pillar 1 unspecified failure error code 0x80004005 | | The error is because of low Program Memory, the game requires 10 MB free, but on some devices it may need more, try to free up at least 15-20 MB of Program Memory. Closing any running applications or utilities before running the game will help.
Also sometimes after your device is on for a very long time the memory can become fragmented, and games and applications won't be able to use all of the free program memory. To fix this, do a soft reset.
If it still is not working there are some settings you can change in the game to lower the memory it uses. Disable music (set volume to 0), the restart the game. Turn Draw Background OFF in the games settings. Disable sound (set volume to 0), the restart the game. | | | | | Atomic Cannon or Acky's XP Breakout turn the screen black or show multicolored dots. | | This will happen if you have a VGA Pocket PC and are running Windows Mobile 2005 and are using an old version of the game. The current beta version supports all device resolutions and OSes, including square screens. View the games page for the beta or email me for more information. | | | | | After installing a Pocket PC game it appeared to miss a file error " failed to acquire resource i244". | | This is caused by a corrupt installation. First uninstall all versions on both your Pocket PC and Desktop PC, next visit the games directories on both your Pocket PC and Desktop PC to make sure they are gone. Now clear your Internet Cache. Now you can re-download the file and try to re-install.
If it still doesn't work try copying the .CAB file to your Pocket PC manually, then installing it that way.
Open Windows Explorer then go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\
There you will find the games directory, then in the that directory a file called gamename.arm.cab, copy this file to your Pocket PC, then on your Pocket PC click on the .cab file and the game will install. | | | | | I need the CAB files to install directly on my device, I don't have a Desktop Computer. | | Please see the bottom of our download page for links to the CAB files. | | | | | Treo: I am having problems with playing the game on my treo 700. I start it and I do not get any picture. The game is playing but the screen is all black. I tried reloading it but it does the same thing. Any suggestios? | | If you are having problems installing the game be sure you have the correct version. The Treo 700w is a Pocket PC and you must install the Pocket PC version of our software, Smartphone versions will not work.
The most common problem people have is trying to use the game when the Treo is set to display in Landscape mode, set the Treo to display in portrait mode then start the game. In the games settings there is also a screen rotation setting, make sure this is set to portriat as well.
Several users are using our games on a Treo 700w with no problems. Perhaps there is something else running on your device that is giving the game problems. Try closing down all drivers and utilities that are running (SPB Pocket Plus for example).
To reset the game delete the settings.dat file in the games directory. | | | | | The game will periodically shut off if I go with more tanks and higher difficulty levels. Then I have to take the sd card out and reinsert it to get it going again. Any suggestions? | | It could be 2 things:
1) The amount of free Program Memory, free up at least 5-10 MB of Program Memory before running the game. You can do this by manually stopping running programs, removing programs from your Main Memory, or sometimes doing a soft reset of the device will help.
2) The SD/CF card could be flaky and returning file read errors. If you have space in Storage Memory, you could try moving or installing the game into your devices Main Memory. | | | | | Acky's Breakout behaves weird. When I start it, it doesn't "see" my taps on the screen. I starting tapping in random places are sometimes I can get it to go to the next screen - but for some reason, the touch screen gets whacked out. The music is playing, and I don't get an error message. The only way to exit the game is to soft reset, since using the stylus doesn't work. SYSTEM: Treo700w | | First try deleting the settings.dat file in the games save directory. If that doesn't work you might also try changing the Screen Rotation setting in the games Settings > Graphics menu. You should also be able to control the game fully with the dir pad and buttons, although they may need customizing on your device (Settings > Controls > Customize Controls). | | | | | I can't install the full-game on my mobile. It says it hasn't got a vaild Certifcate | | Some devices are application locked by the carrier, what this means is unsigned apps are not allowed to run on your device. Basically your carrier has configured Windows Mobile to not allow you to install 3rd party applications (such as my games) unless they are signed with a valid certificate, since signing games costs thousands of dollars each time you create a new version, most small developers cannot afford to do this. It does little more than allow another level control over software by your carrier.
All of our games are currently unsigned, so in order to install our games you have to unlock your phone, this means it can then run any software you install, not just signed apps. Some carriers will unlock it for free, just call them and ask. Or you can use these steps to unlock your phone for free, if you don't have an HTC device try some web searching for "unlock (your phone model)" and many hits should come up, sometimes you may have to pay a small fee to unlock your phone, but most of the time if you search enough you will be able to find a free method of doing it.
I unlocked my Audiovox 5600 Smartphone with a free utility on the web, and it works great and I can run any application I wish now. Unlocking your phone also opens up a whole bunch of customizable settings you can tweak. | | | | | When I load the game I can hear the music but the device locks up and does not bring up the loader screen for the game. | | 1) Delete the settings.dat file in the games directory and try it again. 2) Make sure the Pocket PC OS is in portrait screen mode when you start the game.
If that doesn't work please send me the log.txt file in the games directory which may help me understand the problem. | | | | | Treo: When I exit the game freezes up. (Palm Treo 700w or 700wx). | | This happens when the 'screen rotation' setting in the game's settings menu is not set to 'portrait'. Change this setting the game will work fine.
You may also need to delete the settings.dat file in the games directory before changing the setting. | | | | | I have purchased Atomic Cannon for Windows Moblie and I installed it, but when I try to play it and it tells me (Atomic.exe - 'atomic' is not valid Pocket PC application). | | Be sure you purchased the correct version, Pocket PC or Smartphone.
Pocket PC Models
Smartphone Models | | | | | I am trying to install and get: Error opening file for writing: \Atomic Cannon PPC\ceinst.exe
Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file.
Retrying doesn't work, and Ignoring it only brings up the next file with the same error. | | This is most likely caused by the file becoming corrupted during download. Then when you try to download it again Internet Explorer gets the file from the internet cache (a copy of the file on your hard drive rather than actually re-downloading it). To delete the cache open Internet Explorer and go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files > OK. Next delete any saved copies of the files you may have, and uninstall the game using Add/Remove Programs if it is listed in there. Now you can re-download the file.
If you still get a corrupt file you can try using a different browser such as FireFox, or a download manager such as GetRight. Also try manually deleting the following directory and all sub files C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Atomic Cannon PPC | | | | | How to get the games running on a Windows CE GPS type device. | | When I first tried to install the game it informed me that the game would not work on my device. So I searched for the installed *.cab file on my PC (I used Active Sync to try and install it on my device, which is an all in one GPS system running Win CE 4.2). I found the cab file in....
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Atomic Cannon PPC
I moved the atomic.arm.cab file to the desktop and then I did the following....
Ok what I did to the atomic.arm.cab file was to use this....
http://www.ocpsoftware.com/products.php?nm=cecabmgr
WinCE CAB Manager
and then opened up the cab file and changed the Processor type to ALL / CEF (ID=0) so then it would support my otherwise unsupported device. Then I manually copied the cab file to my device and installed it from there.
The GAPI application is this.....
http://www.wincesoft.de/html/gapi_for_hpc_s.html
all it was a matter of doing is making sure the required resolution was set correctly and using the latest version 3.08. The game will run on my device without the need of using GAPI though.
Thanks to Morgan for this tip. | | | | | When trying to install a game my PDA says this application is not a valid pocket pc application, what am I doing wrong? | | It sounds like you are trying to open the files directly on your Pocket PC? All exe files on my site are desktop pc installers which install the game over activesync.
If you would like to install the game directly on your PDA from the website, you need to download the CAB files, these are available at the bottom of our downloads page. | | | | | Machines at War Mobile says: "Error creating game, probably out of memory." Yet, with ALL settings on high, I have 35MB-40MB free. It happens randomly every time I put the trees beyond 0.0x, and likely to every time I set it to 1.0x. | | The game is running out of memory for the tree objects because the pool from which they are allocated is fixed, its not based on how much free memory your device has, to increase this limit all you have to do is change a settings file variable called MemoryPoolSize, change it to 1000 or 1300. The file is a XML text file, so you can edit it with any text editor. | | | | | Machines at War setting groups. Are there any key selection available to set up groups? I cannot touch the numerals on the side and I don't have a select or control key. | | To set a group you must have the Set Selection key defined, on some devices this is automatically defined, if its not then you will have to define it. Then see what key is mapped to Group 1. To set a group simply press the Group 1 button while holding down the Set Selection key.
These directions are specific to the Motorola Q, with the default controls you have to define a set selection button, for this I used the N key. Select the units you want in the group, and while holding N press U, this will define group 1, to recall the group just hit U. By default there are 4 groups available U,I,O,P and if you want all 10 you will have to change the keys mapped. | | | | | Can't build units or units will not move in Machines At War? (Applies to many devices including HTC Diamond) | | On some devices if 'Set Selection' OR 'Remove from Selection' shortcut keys are undefined the game doesn't operate properly with clicks. Its easy to fix, simply set both 'Set Selection' and 'Remove from Selection' commands to hardware buttons. You may need to try a few different buttons. NOTE you don't have to use these shortcut keys during the game, they simply have to be defined.
To set the commands from the main menu of the game click on Settings > Controls > Customize Controls. | | | | | Machines at War doesn't work on the Samsung Omnia i900. I can't select the correct bar on any menu so I can't use the program. Usually, it defaults to the bottom menu item, but doesn't activate it. | | The game isn't using the proper screen rotation, there are 2 things to try,
1) change the screen rotation/orientation of the OS before starting the game.
2) In the game menu under settings > graphics > screen rotation change this to a different setting then restart the game. You should still be able to navigate and change the menus with the directional pad (up/down will move the current menu item, and left/right will change the current menu item). |

If you are close to an enemy when you die they can kill or bury your enemy. They are most useful when playing more than 2 teams or more than 1 tank per team. You can click on the weapon's icon in the weapons depot dialog to see descriptions of each weapon. You can also disable the death weapons in the options. | | | | | How do I move my tank in Atomic Cannon v2.0? | | Tanks moving is now integrated into the weapon system, buy a move utility item in the weapons depot. Open the weapons depot dialog by clicking the $ button. Hover over or click on the icon for the weapon and it will pop up a tooltip tell you what the weapon does. You can also hover over each category to see what each weapon stat means. How can I slow it down? | | In v2.6 a new setting called UpdateScale controls how fast the game is 'animated'. In the demo it may have been set to a lower value than in the full version, you can change this setting through the game's settings menu. Settings > Gameplay Options > Update Scale | | | | | Atomic Cannon doesn't have any sound. | | Ensure the settings in the games sound settings menu are set correctly. The default values are:
Sound On Music On Sound Volume 100% Music Volume 100% Stereo On Playback Rate 44100 Hz
Some PDAs might not support playback rates of 44100 so you can try changing that setting.
If all else fails you can try reseting the game to default settings by deleting the settings.dat files in the games installation directory.
One user reported the following fix "The sound works now. It was the Creative Audigy 4 EAX surround sound control that was conflicting. I disabled it and the sound for this program now works." | | | | | Atomic Cannon: Is there a way of saving the game? | | Since the game was designed to be played in short sessions, there is no option to save the game. You can easily get around this though by simply pausing the game, and minimizing it. | | | | | Is it possible to play personal MP3s in Atomic Cannon? | | Yes, but they need to have special names. If you name the tracks the following names the game should use them instead of the internal tracks. Create a directory called music\ in the games directory and put the track there.
subatomicglue - aeonblue - 01 - feline.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 02 - dance of the butterfly.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 03 - karota.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 04 - bugeater.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 05 - aeonblue.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 06 - clarion.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 07 - rust.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 08 - into the wild blue monster.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 09 - four-ages.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 10 - anubis.claws.mp3 subatomicglue - aeonblue - 11 - rise of sol.mp3

You can turn these on in the games settings Settings > Game > Show Help.
On the Treo you might need to remap the controls to your device, Settings > Controls > Customize Controls. If you use the stylus you may want to try out some of the other control schemes Settings > Controls > Control Scheme.
To summon a new dragon you must travel to a spawn pad (they have flags by them) and press the action button. | | | | | Machines at War is freezing when it is initializing the bases. | | When the "starting credits" game setting is too low the AI doesn't have enough credits to place the headquarters and scavengers, so it enters an infinite loop when placing them, since the landscape is random, it only happens every once and while. To fix this simply increase the starting credits setting.
| | | | | Machines at War I can't move selected units. | | This happens if you use Ctrl+Esc to minimize the game.
There are 3 workarounds.
1) Simply press the CONTROL key after you maximize the game and it will work normally again. 2) Use the MINIMIZE menu link to minimize the game rather than the Ctrl+Esc. 3) Remap the SET SELECTION key in the game to something other than the CONTROL key. | | | | | Machines at War doesn't support 1280x1024 screen resolution, so the graphics on my LCD are blurry. | | You will get the sharpest image possible if you run the game at the native resolution if you have a LCD display. The easy way to do this is to simply run the game in windowed mode. The game will support running at any resolution, although you must edit the settings.xml file manually. Open settings.xml with a text editor and change the ResolutionString value to whatever you want, you can even use 1600x1200 if you want, just make sure it is a valid resolution, the graphics will show a small glitch in the lower right corner during gameplay since the UI graphics don't cover the extra screen space.
The settings.xml file will be in the following directory: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Isotope 244\Machines at War | | | | | How to reset Atomic Cannon to default settings. | | To reset the games settings delete the following file:

| | | | | Atomic Cannon Multiplayer (applies to all platforms) | | To setup an Atomic Cannon server, your server must have port 24400 open on your router and firewalls. This is called Port Forwarding on most routers, the game only uses UDP, so if your router allows you to only forward UDP messages, that is all that is needed. Here are the steps to get an Atomic Cannon server working:
1) In Windows click on start > run, enter cmd hit return 2) type ipconfig to get your internal ip address 3) open the config page to your router/firewall and add port forwarding for your ip address for port 24400 4) start the game click on network game > host game, edit the settings to your liking and click start host
If you're only playing on a LAN you still need to do port forwarding because the clients connect to a master server on the internet, which then forward them back to your LAN server.
All clients and server must use different game licenses for them to connect.
Now others should be able to connect to your server and play you over the internet.
If you need help setting up your router please refer to your routers webpage, or http://portforward.com
NOTE: You can customize the port the game connects on if you want, in the game at the Start Host screen hit enter, now type help and you will see commands you can use, type port [#] for a custom port. You can also customize the name of your server by typing servername [newname]. | | | | | Atomic Cannon Error - Failed to acquire resouce splash, Error code: 0x80004005 | | Please follow the directions here and it should fix the issue:

Mac Games
 | I have purchased a MacBook Pro 17 the software crashes my machine and causes a reset. Any ideas?? | | You should not run the demo after running the full version as it may corrupt the settings file.
One user reported that the game didn't work until he put it in the Applications folder, I'm not sure if this was because his user account had limited access. Please let me know if you have any more questions. | | | | | The Atomic Cannon Mac demo version ran very smooth, but the full version that I bought runs very very slow. | | The slow motion is caused by running the demo version after running the full version. To fix this issue all you have to do delete the settings file: /Users/username/Library/Preferences/I244-ACM-settings.dat
You should also delete the demo version so you don't have this problem again.
The setting UpdateScale controls how fast the game is 'animated'. You can change this setting through the game's settings menu. Settings > Gameplay Options > Update Scale | | | | | When opening Atomic Cannon Mac I'm asked to key in the registration code everytime I play. Is there a way to permanently set the registration code? | | This is due to having a corrupted settings file and is not normal. It is caused by running the demo version after running the full version. To fix this issue all you have to do delete the settings file: /Users/username/Library/Preferences/I244-ACM-settings.dat You should also delete the demo version so you don't have this problem again.
| | | | | Atomic Cannon Mac won't load. | | 1) Ensure the games data file is the game's directory, for the demo this is called demo.pak and for the full version it is called full.pak. It should be in the same directory as the Atomic Cannon.app file.
2) Delete the settings file: /Users/username/Library/Preferences/I244-ACM-settings.dat /Users/username/Library/Preferences/Isotope 244/Atomic Cannon/settings.dat then run the game. | | | | | The game rearranges all of my windows that were opened. | | This is a bug in Atomic Cannon Mac and Acky's XP Breakout Mac, the problem will be fixed in an update. To get around the problem for now you can put the game into windowed mode which won't affect the other windows or desktop resolution at all. | | | | | Machines at War Mac plays in a very small window and I have to enter my registration code every time. | | Do not close the game by clicking on the Command bar at the top. Close the game by exiting out using the in-game menu Quit item, it can then save and load properly next time you start the game.
The game will then resume to fullscreen after it is registered (it starts in windows mode when registering so you can easily look at your email to enter the code). | | | | | When playing Machines at War for the Mac in fullscreen the monitor displays a weird pixel pattern that remains until I close out of the game completely. | | This happens if you edit the GLUT preferences on some machines (available in the Apple command bar of the game). When you do this it creates a file called com.apple.glut.plist in your preferences folder (/Users/username/Library/Preferences/). Delete the file if its there and that should fix the problem.
You can also try setting the game to use other resolutions, to use a new resolution you have to restart the game for it to take effect. | | | | | None of the units I build respond to what I tell them. Even when they are being shot at, they just sit there and die. They wont move either when I try to place them. | | A new version 1.1 has been released which fixes turrets if they are not firing after a while.
The reason air or land units will just sit there is the pathing system of the game is overloaded, this happens when there are too many units moving in the game. To fix this you can tweak a few of the game settings:
1) the smaller the map size the faster the game can calculate pathing, so use a MEDIUM or smaller map size (this is the most important setting). 2) limit the number of players to 2 3) limit the population to 100-150
This isn't a problem on newer machines because they can calculate pathing for the units much faster, but on a slower 1Ghz power pc processor using the maximum game settings you will see this problem. | | | | | I can't figure out how to use the tech tree. I build a lab and access the tree, but ony can spend a certain amount of points. How do I increase these points? I want to be able to access all these technologies, not just some of them. | | You only get 15 research points, there is no way to get more, this makes the game more interesting by making you choose a research path, rather than simply getting all of the technologies. It also makes the AI more interesting as you will fight AIs with different technologies than yourself.
You can however cheat and edit the settings.xml file in the games preferences folder to increase the number of research points you get. | | | | | Is there any type of guide or tip sheet for this game? | | There is a full manual included with the game that explains all of the units and technologies, it is in the games install directory. | | | | | Machines at War A readout of stats of some sort in the upper left, Starts: FPS 59 SWAP 11.2 Game 14:12 etc. obscures top left of Game and Help window. | | To remove the text (FPS, etc) set Framerate to 0 in the game Settings > Graphics > Framerate. | | | | | Machines at War is too easy. | | To increase difficulty try these game settings: Difficulty = Robotic Align Players = You vs. AI+AI Game Speed = 1.2 to 1.6 Players = 3 Reveal Map = Normal | | | | | Machines at War the units are attacking other units on their way to somewhere and I don't want that. As a commander, I should be able to order units to "move only" to a certain location and ignore enemy units on the way, in order to implement a strategy. | | If you go into Settings > Controls > Customize Controls you will see a Move+Attack control, by default this is mapped to ~ key (next to the 1). Press this key to toggle if the unit will stop to attack other units when moving somewhere or attacking another unit. |

Because of the way the chrome effect is rendered a custom texture will not look "reflective", it takes 6 textures of an environment to do this effect or a special texture called a sphere map. You can read more about it here if you like...
http://www.opengl.org/developers/code/sig99/advanced99/notes/node179.html http://www.sgi.com/software/opengl/advanced97/notes/node95.html
Environmentally mapped means the texture looks like it is a mirror type surface and is reflective.
To specify a custom environmental map, the file must end in a _e, for example: chrome_e.bmp
For more information on environmental mapping, see www.opengl.org or search the internet. | | | | | Windows XP and screensaver passwords | | In Windows XP passwords are no longer controlled in the screensaver settings.

Renaming the extension of the screensaver to .sCR instead of .scr improves the frame rate of most OpenGL screensavers drastically (It still wont be anywhere near NVidia, but it's better than nothing). Apparently the intel drivers don't catch every possible capitalization of the extension. This trick has helped me with a number of great screensavers that would only run at 1 fps before.
Intel has the following to say:
Symptom(s): OpenGL* 3D screensavers run slowly. Cause: Hardware acceleration for OpenGL* screensavers is not enabled in the graphics drivers because of potential compatibility issues with a number of third party OpenGL screensavers. Running the screensavers in software mode should reduce the possibility of system lockups or crashes while these screen savers are enabled. This should not prevent these screen savers from running, but slow rendering speed may be seen. This does not affect OpenGL-based games or general applications.
Solution: This is expected behavior. | | | | | Screensaver locks up on laptop | | First follow the directions in the 'General screensaver fixes' FAQ.

After you click on the 'Email Isotope244 Graphics' button in the Misc tab, if it says the screensaver is using "Microsoft Corporation GDI Generic" video driver, because of this rendering is probably very slow, this is caused by old or invalid video card drivers.
You should download and install the latest video card drivers for your computer. This will make your whole computer run a lot faster as well as the screensavers. The two most common video card manufacturers are ATI (www.ati.com) and nVidia (www.nvidia.com). | | | | | Screensaver multiple or dual monitors support (multi-mon) | | The screensavers don't support it natively, but there are utilities (for example Ultramon has a free trail) you can run to enable multimonitor support for any screensaver, including ours. Some people have problems running dual monitors with the saver because it will run on the primary fine, but the secondary will still display the desktop (not providing much of a screensaving function :) but to get around this you can simply set the 'Change Resolution' option to switch to a different resolution, then when the resolution is switched, Windows automatically blanks the secondary display. | | | | | How to remove a screensaver | | If you only want to change your current screen saver right click on your desktop, then select Properties, then select the Screen Saver tab. Then change the screen saver to something else.
You can remove it by going to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, then select the screen saver in the list and hit the Change/Remove button to uninstall it.
If you want to install it again then just download it from the website and install it again using the setup program.
If you can't find the screensavers installer listing in the Add/Remove Programs Utility, then you can delete it manually, simply open Windows Explorer and search for files called i244*.scr in your Windows\ directory, delete them if found. Getting the latest video card drivers improves your the stability and performance of all your applications. Try using different resolutions and color depths. It might be locking up because you have power management on, try turning off 'powering your monitor down'. Also ensure the 'Enable Blending on Open' option is off in the Misc page of the screensaver's settings (not all screensavers have this option). | | | | | Windows Media Player opens then stops the screensaver when it is started when I have a custom music file set to play | | Try setting Windows Media Player (WMP) in skin or non-skinned mode. Make sure WMP is the default music player for the music file type you're playing. Try leaving WMP open or closed when the screensaver starts. | | | | | Picture Cube 3D doesn't play MP3 audio | | Try playing a wav or midi file from the screensaver, if that works then you probably don't have the proper codes installed to play mp3s or wmas. If you can't find any email me and I might be able to find some.
PictureCube doesn't use WMP to play music files, it uses the system internal MCI player device, so you will need system codecs installed to playback mp3s, free ones are available here
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPEG_Layer_3_Codec.htm | | | | | I bought a full version screensaver but can't get it installed, the free version one is still on my computer. | | The screensaver could have been still running when you installed the full version, thus the full version file wasn't able to overwrite the free version file. Please try the following:
1) Restart windows 2) Uninstall the free versions 3) Install the full versions
If the screensavers still don’t uninstall or install correctly you may need to delete the files manually, open Windows Explorer (Start > Programs > Accessories) and search for files called 244*.scr in your Windows\ and Windows\System32 folder and delete them if found, then install the full versions.
What could of also happen is if you installed our 'All 3D Screensavers' package that will install the free version over the full versions, just reinstall the full versions to fix this, you shouldn’t have to enter your registration info again.
You may also need to login into Windows with an Administrator account, check your account priveleges in Start > Settings > Control Panel > User Accounts. | | | | | My screensaver was working fine but now it now keeps asking for registration code and attempting to access the internet. | | It could be a few things causing the problem:
1) It might be because you installed the free version over the full version. Uninstall all versions, then request your codes and install the full versions, only the full version install allows you to enter a code. What could have happened is if you installed our 'All 3D Screensavers' package that will install the free version over the full versions, just reinstall the full versions to fix this, you shouldn’t have to enter your registration info again.
2) To ensure the screensaver doesn't exit when it tries to access the internet do the following:
If you use ZoneAlarm, goto Program Control, click Add, then add the screensaver you wish to run (screensavers start with i244) and are in your Windows\ or Windows\System32 directories.
If you use Windows Firewall click on Start > Settings > Control Panael > Windows Firewall > Exceptions > Add Program... > Browse... then change the 'Files of type' to all files, then add the screensaver you wish to run (screensavers start with i244) and are in your Windows\ or Windows\System32 directories.
For the reason the screensavers access the internet see the other FAQ. | | | | | General screensaver fixes. | | If your having problems with running the software make sure you:
1) Install the latest drivers for your video card! Driver issues account for about 80% of all bug reports issued by customers. Find your graphics card manufacturer in the list below and go to their site and download and install the latest drivers. This will increase your system performance and stability. Video card manufacturers: NVidia, ATI, Matrox, 3Dfx, 3Dlabs, Asus, Creative Labs, Hercules, Intel, S3, SiS, Trident
2) Install the latest Direct X drivers.
3) Install the latest updates for Windows.
How to Identify your Video Card and Current Driver Select Start > Settings > Control Panel. Select Display. Select Settings. Click the Advanced button. Click the Adapter tab. The name of the video card, manufacturer, version number, and the filenames of the drivers are displayed. | | | | | The screensaver exits by itself after a while. | | - Perhaps there is an invalid picture it is getting to and then closing out. Try setting the cube picture list to only a few pictures you know are good. (also remove all music). - Are you moving your mouse or something, try checking the box that says 'Only exit on Escape' in the screensaver settings. - Perhaps the resolution the screensaver is using isn't working, change the 'Change Resolution' options in the screensaver to something else. - To reset the screensavers settings delete the following registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\I244\Picture Cube 3D | | | | | I get these error messages when installing a screensaver:
Error opening file for writing:
c:\Windows\System32\fmod.dll
c:\Windows\System32\ss242tie.scr
I was never given the opportunity to paste the registration code during the install process. | | You must be logged onto your computer as an Administrator when installing the screensavers. This is because the screensaver files are stored in your OS system directory, as all screensavers are. | | | | | The screensaver works for about 3 seconds and then the screen goes black. Oddly in the small preview screen it show just fine. | | In the screensaver settings be sure the 'Enable blending on open' setting under the Misc tab is unchecked. This feature only works on some systems. | | | | | Is it normal for this screen saver to cause a high CPU utilization. I noticed it's running at about 65%. | | This depends on your CPU and graphics card, but that sounds about right. To lower the CPU load you can lower the Target Framerate setting in the Misc tab in most of our screensavers. When your monitor goes into standby the screensaver will shutdown automatically and use 0% CPU. | | | | | Windows Vista 64 screen saver configure button not working. | | The screen saver may be installed in the Windows\SysWOW64 folder and not in Windows\System32. Move the file to the Windows\System32 Folder and it should work then as normally. |
